Spring Cleaning Means Deep Cleaning

Spring is finally knocking on the door, and we couldn’t be more ready. Federal health officials say that this winter flu season has been the worst since the swine flu pandemic in 2009. Maintaining a healthy work environment for employees, customers and clients has certainly been a challenge, even with thorough routine cleaning. Needless to say, with warmer weather right around the corner, it’s time to send those flu germs packing for good with a really deep clean.

6 tips to make your office happy and healthy

Here are 6 tips that will take your office from winter ready to warm weather wonderful:

  1. Windows
Springtime is the perfect time to say goodbye to the dirt and dust accumulating on your windows after a long winter of rain, sleet and snow. Wash windows inside and out and don’t forget the sills. If you can, open the windows to let in the fresh air. This is also a good time to dust the blinds and dry clean draperies. Sparkling windows that let the sunshine in make for happier employees and put the finishing touch on a polished office.
  2. Floors
Floors are easy to overlook, especially during the winter months when shoes are constantly bringing in ice, salt, mud and other debris. Move furniture to get every last lurking dust bunny. Make repairs to hardwood and polish to a shine, and extend the life of carpet by having it professionally cleaned.
  3. Air Ducts
Air quality is of utmost importance in any office space. Cleaning your building’s air ducts in the spring removes the dirt and dust from your HVAC system and prevents it from being re-circulated throughout the building once the air conditioner starts running. Clean air ducts also lessen the effects of allergens during the spring and summer months and keep unpleasant smells at bay.
  4. Restrooms
Restrooms should always sparkle, but springtime is a good time to make sure everything is in working order, and toilets, sinks and floors are thoroughly disinfected. If you don’t have a hand sanitizer installed, now is a good time to do that, too!
  5. Break Rooms
Clean that fridge inside and out. Pull it away from the wall and clean underneath and behind it, too. Clean the microwave, wipe down and disinfect tables, chairs, cabinets, countertops and high-touch surfaces, such as door handles, water dispensers, coffee makers, and sink faucets.
  6. Pressure Washing
Is the outside of your building looking a little grimy from the winter? Pressure washing your exterior walls, sidewalks and walkways will make them look like new and give your business the professional, well-cared for appearance it deserves.
